Pro Bike Mechanic’s Tip

Always grease the threads and head base area before installation. Start aluminium bolts by hand to avoid cross-threading, then torque to 2.5-3 Nm using a T20 Torx wrench. Check bolt torque after your first ride, then periodically. If you’re unsure whether an application is load-bearing, it probably is — when in doubt, don’t use aluminium bolts there.
